Fast metal deposition welding with mobile industrial robots using onboard sensor fusion and online path correction
The aim of the project is to enable the automated regeneration of large forming tools using metal deposition welding directly on site at the customer's premises. Picum MT GmbH already offers an innovative solution for such tasks with its mobile robot system LISA. As part of SMARt, this system is now to be significantly further developed in order to increase the degree of automation. This will give small and medium-sized enterprises in particular access to this technology, while at the same time avoiding CO₂ emissions by eliminating heavy transport.

Research project: Mobile roller burnishing
The Picum MT research project aims to expand the application possibilities of the roller burnishing process and, in particular, to enable the machining of free-form surfaces. The existing knowledge gaps regarding the process strategy for free-form surfaces are to be closed in order to exploit the full potential of roller burnishing. The focus here is on using the knowledge gained to utilize roller burnishing as a post-processing method for forming dies.
